The Ringed Teal is a small duck from South American forests. They are sexually dimorphic and do not have an eclipse plumage.

They are considered 'dabblers' and will dip their head and up-end their body looking for food. Their bills many tiny plate-like ridges that allow them to cut vegetation like teeth for consumation. They also eat seeds and insects.
