The Baikal Teal is a migratory bird that breeds in Siberia and winters in South Korea, Japan, Taiwan and China. The male plumage it is quite striking. The female can be identified from other teals by the round whitish mark behind the bill.

Baikal Teals are dabbling ducks. Their diet consists of seeds, leaves, stems, other vegetation parts, molluscs, and insects.
