Gila Woodpecker - Melanerpes uropygialis

The Gila Woodpecker is found in the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico. They mostly build their nests in holes of saguaro cacti or mesquite trees. They are omnivores and will eat flowers and fruits of saguaros and other cacti and plants, insects, other animals and bird eggs.
