Gambel's Quail - Callipepla gambelii

The Gambel's Quail is a ground-dwelling bird that inhabits the deserts of the southwest from California to Texas, and Nevada and New Mexico. They are very similar to California Quail. They primarily eat plants and seeds. They do not fly a lot or very far. They were named for the American naturalist and collector William Gambel.
