The White-crowned Sparrow breeds in northern Canada, Alaska and the western U.S. They winter in most of the U.S. and Mexico. Their black and white striped head is very noticeable. Diet includes seeds of weeds and grasses, and insects such as caterpillars, wasps, beetles. They also eat grains and berries.
