Local to the West Coast, Brandt's Cormorants range from Alaska to the Gulf of California. One of the best places that I know of to view them, especially in breeding season, is Point Lobos. Point Lobos is just south of Monterey and Carmel. During the spring you can see them in their breeding plumage and posture at Bird Rock.

Like all cormorants they are fish eaters.
