The Great Horned Owl is native to the Americas and it is the most widely distributed true owl in the Americas. The Great Horned Owl's eyes are very keen. They cannot move the eyes because they are immobile in the sockets but must move their heads.

They primarily hunt at night and eat small to medium-sized mammals such as rabbits, hares, raccoons, rats, squirrels, etc. They even eat skunks.
