Las Gallinas Valley Sanitary

Las Gallinas Valley Sanitary, CA

North of San Rafael, this sanitary district site is unique because of the wildlife/refuge ponds that are there and that are open for the public to walk around. It is great for walking (and biking). Lots of raptors, shorebirds, etc. Some of the birds I have seen here are include many species of ducks (teals, mallards, etc.), shorebirds (avocets, stilts, Great Blue Herons, Egrets), and other birds (Yellow-rumped Warblers, Black Phoebes, etc.).
