The Northern Parula breeds in the eastern half of the U.S. and southeast Canada and winters in Florida, Central America and parts of Mexico. They build their nests in lichen or Spanish moss in humid woodlands. They eat insects and spiders during the breeding season. During winter, they will also eat berries, seeds and nectar.
