The Golden-fronted Woodpecker s found from Texas and Oklahoma through Mexico to Honduras and northern Nicaragua. The male and female are sexually dimorphic. The female has yellow on the head and nape while the male has a red crown and yellow/orange nape. Diet is insects (mostly grasshoppers and additionally beetles and ants) and vegetable matter, including corn, acorns, fruits and berries.
