Bruce's Green-pigeon is also called the Yellow-bellied Green-pigeon. They are found in countries south of the Sahara and include: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ivory Coast, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Somalia, Sudan, Togo, Uganda, and Yemen.

They live in mostly in densely wooded valleys and forests near water. They diet mostly rely on the fruit of fig trees.
